Bloei & Groei was founded in Amsterdam in 2014 as a pioneering initiative for an alternative neighbourhood-oriented approach to (mental) health, women’s emancipation, food security and well-being. The initiative now has 6 city gardens in the Amsterdam districts South East, New West, West and North. Bloei & Groei is a community-oriented initiative that creates fertile ground for residents who want to strengthen themselves, their environment, and their neighbourhood. Thanks to the support of Fonds 1999, Bloei & Groei has been able to establish a new Healing Garden in the Westerpark. The Healing Garden is a place where women can develop and blossom (again). Women who want to work on themselves and their immediate environment in a quiet environment.
