STICHTING STRIJKKWARTET BIËNNALE AMSTERDAM – EDITION 2024
The String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam is the only string quartet festival of this size and content worldwide. In a biennial international festival, musicians, enthusiasts, and curious listeners come together to experience and discover what the string quartet has to offer. The festival, which offers a stage for young, up-and-coming string quartets, was partly made possible thanks to a donation from Fonds 1999. In addition, this donation enabled the SQBA Residency, in which three young ensembles followed an intensive four-week teaching program, culminating in a performance during the opening of the String Quartet Biennale. Finally, the donation also supported the Trust program, that was created in collaboration with Koninklijke Visio. The Belinfante Quartet and the Karski Quartet, together with twelve amateur singers with a visual impairment, performed, the piece TRUST by composer Mathijs de Roo, which was specially composed for this line-up. TRUST will be repeated at two Dutch festivals in the summer of 2024.
